A Witness

RAMI stands as a witness for truth in an area overwhelmed with deception.  The right for people, including soldiers to protect their lives especially during conflicts is understandable and recognized.  Yet, can that be used as an excuse to brutally and systematically kill and hurt people?  The answer to this question is the key to understand an area full of ways of deception.

Yes, Palestinian demonstrators are angry ones, they throw stones, force them selves into areas that endanger their lives, frustrated, and full of despair, to the first look, one can understand what is always described as the hard conditions under which the Israeli army functions. But wait a minute; this army is not equipped with helmets, shields, and sticks. It is an army that uses tanks, machine guns, and an air force and this is not a war against another army but against demonstrators.  So what are the hard conditions under which the Israeli army is functioning? Someone might refer to the limited participation of the Palestinian police and the cases of exchange of fire that happens here and there.

Then, what about RAMI? How did he threat the lives of the peace loving Israeli soldiers? By being a target? RAMI is a witness to the existing, even if denied on daily basis, desire inside Israeli soldiers to kill and harm as many Palestinians as they can.  The basis are coming from the high level of stereotyping as well as from the policies dictated by their leaders.
