The High Tech Assassination in Beit SahourBy: In Beit Sahour at 11:30 am four Israeli Copra choppers appeared high in the blue clear sky. In few minutes four smart missiles was launched simultaneously by the four of them at a car moving in the highly crowded YMCA Street. The car with three passengers was directly hit, the passengers of another car traveling at the same road were injured and four pedestrians where seriously injured. The result of this non-provoked attack was two killed on spot and seven people severely injured two of them are already declared as clinically dead. This time not only homes where bombarded and turned into ruins but and for the first time in this town lives were lost. This new Israeli policy is an unprecedented escalation against the town of Beit Sahour. It comes on the eve of the summit meeting between Arafat and Clinton and is probably an attempt to send a message that says: all of what you are doing guys is worthless. We are the side who dictates and violence and aggression will not only continue but will be escalated to a level never witnessed from before. Using smart missiles to assassinate people at roads, with heavy traffic, passing through highly populated residential areas, establish a concrete evidence on the on going Israeli policy of killing as many Palestinians as they can. The Israeli generals call it taking the initiative. While everyone is convinced that in order to return back to the negotiations table both parties should exhibit a high level of tolerance, take gradual steps, and in particular and as Perez stated it “ pass through a couple of days without funerals” The Israeli army appears to work contradictory to the orders of the political level in Israel. Or maybe we need to reexamine the assumption that says: Israel is interested in putting an end to violence.
