The Real Story of Killing the two women in Beit Sahour on 9/11/2000.
Aziza Danoun 58 years and Rahma Shahin (a widow) 54 years.

Azizeh Dannoun (Um Raja) with one of her Grandchildren

On Wednesday evening 8/11/2000 the Israeli

Soldiers armed with heavy weapons and tanks attacked many civil sites in the east of Beit Sahour -as it used to happen since the beginning of the second Intifada.

One of the houses, which were attacked, was the one related to the citizen Ramzi Mohammed Ali Shueibat.  In the morning of the next day, the people of the city including the relatives attended to the site to see the result of the attack, they used to stay for short time and then leave.

Rahma Shahin (Um Eyad)

Two women among the people were Aziza Dannoun who was the sister of the owner of the attacked house and Rahma Shahin also was her relative.

After they finished their visit, they decided to leave finding out that there were no deaths or injuries but some damage to the building. They moved towards the main street through a narrow unpaved road to wait for a taxi to take them back home.

Suddenly a mad devilish explosion happened.  The area was covered with sound. "The bodies of both women were sent into the air for ten meters before they rushed down and settled on the ground" one witness remarked.  Salah Shuibat who was injured remarked that Aziza was on fire, but a damaged water pipe could put the fire out because of the water flowing on her body" and he added, the bodies of the women were deprived from their clothes" then Salah went into unconsciousness.

Then the people of the city rushed to the site to see the result of the attack made by the missiles shot by a helicopter (Apache) on the area. And the ambulance arrived to the spot trying to save the injured.

But the whole crowd was frightened by the Israeli bullets shot but this time from the Israeli army camp in the city.  The target was the people and the ambulance.  The result was that the people withdrew and some bullets hit the ambulance.

Some short time later, the injured people were taken to hospitals and the people went again to see what had happened.

The first eyewitness who could see the bodies of both women (Kareem Shueibat) the son of the owner of the house, said that Aziza ( his Aunt) was a mass of an unknown human body.  She was covered with bullets and blood.  Part of her head and hair was fixed on the wall.  He added that Rahma Shahin was suffering a lot.  The internal parts of her body were out, and she was murmuring, “help me, please”.  She was crying silently "Kareem remarked that one civil car was shelled by one rocket.  It belonged to Hussain Obayyat one of Fateh leaders who came to visit the attacked house.  He was killed inside his car immediately.

Some short time later the families of both women arrived but it was too late.  The women were taken to Beit Jala hospital.

There, they found that Rahma was in the operation room and Aziza was moved to AI-Makased hospital in Jerusalem for her injuries were seriously dangerous.  A while later, both of them passed away.  Azizeh left behind three daughters and three sons, and Rahma left two sons and one daughter.

The families intend to send this message to the whole international community to reveal the Israeli lies and to negate the Israeli claims that they, the Israelis, attacked the target (Hussain Obayyat) directly.  The Israelis are trying to neglect responsibility of killing the two Palestinian women Rahma and Aziza.

Why did they kill these two women??! ! Were they carrying guns??! ! What danger to the security of Israel were two innocent women! ! !

Why did the Israelis repeat the story of Mohammad AI-Durra but this time with Aziza and Rahma?  Who can answer Aziza's grandchildren’s questions, “Where is my grandmother? When will she come back? Shall she bring me some sweets as she comes back?”  Motez her nine year grandchild is still asking.

Khalid, Rahma’s son, speaking about his mother says “She is my mother.  Oh sorry, she was my mother, but she is still my mother. Rahma, that name which means Mercy.  Yes, she was my mother, she was the mercy, she was and was and was. ...”

“Rahma Shahin. My mother, my father, my brother, my and my and my. She was every thing, she was everything I knew.  When I was born she called me Khalid which means (eternal) because she hoped that I live for a long time.  She loved me and I loved her.  My father died four years ago. My brother got married three years ago and so did my sister. I was the only one who stayed with her.

“I used to sleep beside her in one bed for very short four years.  When I wake up, I find her beside me smiling saying "Good morning" Sometimes I wake up at night finding her hand passing over me to check if I was well covered or not.”

“Not only Rahma was my mother, she was also my friend.  We used to hit each other, play with each other, scold each other, dream the same dreams, wish the some wishes, and be always with each other.”

On that day the 9th of November, the day she died, she asked me to go with her to see the houses which were damaged because of the Israeli bombs and bullets.  She went alone there, I was at home.  At 11:30 I heard a horrible noise and I knew that it was beside the houses which my mother went to see.  I went to the street to watch the helicopters with my neighbors and I told them "do you know who died" They answered "who?" I said" my mother" they asked "really?!!!" I answered "Oh"! ! I am just kidding without knowing that she was dead. However, she actually died.

I don't have any word to say to the people who killed her but "Don't think that I will forget", I won't I won't forget".
